Shoaib Akhtar arrives in Delhi

Shoaib Akhtar arrived in New Delhi on Monday afternoon and just after landing in India he said that he was looking forward to having a great time in Indian Premier League. He also thanked Shah Rukh Khan, the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Akhtar said that he was happy to be in India and looked forward to play in the IPL. He thanked the people of Indian for their support and said that Eden Gardens is like my home ground and I am looking forward to be there soon.

The Pakistan Cricket Board temporarily suspended Shoaib Akhtar's five-year ban on Sunday, which makes him free to play for Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders.

Rajasthan Royals outclass Chennai Superkings

Rajasthan Royals continued their winning streak by decimating a depleted Chennai side by 8 wickets. Sohail Tanvir, the Pakistani fast bowler, wrote the script for Rajasthan Royals as he wrecked havoc among Chennai batsmen, claiming 6 wickets in his alotted 4 overs.

Tanvie removed the Chennai opener Parthiv Patel of the very first ball of the match and also claimed the wicket of Stephan Fleming in the same over. The Chennai side could not come oout of this shock and continued loosing wickets and finally foldede for 109.

The small target of 109 proved a cakewalk for the Rajasthan Royals and they cruised past the total at the loss of just two wickets. For Rajasthan Royals, Graeme Smith (35) and Swapnil Asnodkar (32) were the top scorers.

Shoaib can play in IPL says Lalit Modi

IPL Chairman Lalit Modi said on Sunday that Shoaib Akhtar can play on the current Twenty20 tournament. This decision came after a Pakistani appeal tribunal suspended the five-year ban on Shoiab Akhtar for a month.

Modi remarked that we could allohim to play in the IPl only either the ban was lifted or suspended. Modi also said that "Shoaib is now allowed to play in the IPL and should be coming to India in the next two days," .

The IPL chief also said that he was in touch with the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Nasim Ashraf, who confirmed the suspension of five-year ban on Shoaib.

Pakistani speeddter's repeated violation of the player's Code of Conduct and breaching discpline had invited a five-year ban from the PCB, which jeopardized his his Cricket career.

Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Daredevils

Some great bowling performance helped Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Daredevils by 29 runs in the IPL match at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

Earlier, batting first Mumbai Indians failed yet again to score a great total and were restricted to 162 for eight by the Delhi Daredevils. With only one victory in five matches, the Mumbai Indians batsmen finished up with a less-than-competitive score.

Sanath Jayasuriya (34), newcomer Yogesh Takawale (14), Dominic Thornely (30) and Robin Uthappa (22) got good starts but failed to capitalise on them as Delhi Daredevils bowlers struck at regular intervals to dent their progress.

The opening pair of Takawale and Jayasuriya collected 46 runs but after their departure, Mumbai Indians' innings went into decline before being revived by some good batting from Robin Uthappa and Thornely.

Delhi Daredevils, Virender Sehwag, once again sparkled with bat and made a quick-fire 40 runs off just 20 balls but other batsmen hardly made any real efforts to take Delhi home and Delhi lost the 4 wickets for just 14 runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders lose again

A record stand (104 runs) for the sixth wicket between David Hussey and Prasanta Shah went in vain as Kolkata Knight Riders lost yet another crucial IPL match. Kings XI Punjab won their fourth match in a row by defeating the Kolkata side by nine runs in a thrilling Indian Premier League tie on Saturday at Mohali.

The match went down the wire even after KOlkata Knight Riders lost their top five batsmen for 50. But David Hussey and Shah batted like super humans and threaten to take the match from KIngs XI Punjab, belting a sensational 104 off just 55 balls, which is a world record in Twenty20 cricket.

Kolkata Knight Riders need 179 to win

Kings Xi Punjab scored 178 for the loss of 6 wickets in a crucial match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the PCA Stadium, Mohali on Saturday night. For Kings Xi Punjab, Shaun Marsh, son of former Australian great Geoff Marsh, again flourished to score 40 off 32 balls. Other Kings XI Punjab batsmen also contributed with good score to help their team post a competetive total of 178 for the loss of 6 wickets.


For Kolkata Knight Riders Umar gul was the pick of the bowlers and claimed 2 wickets while Ashok Dinda, Mohammad Hafeez and David Hussey took one each.

Praveen Kumar Shines in Bangalore Win

Praveen Kumar took three wickets to help Bangalore Royal Champions to seal a narrow 3-run win against Deccan Chargers in an exciting match of the Indian Premier League at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday on Saturday (May, 3) .

Praveen Kumar claimed three wickets for 23 and helped the hosts defend the modest total of 156. For the Bangalore side, it was their second win in the tournament. For Deccan Chargers, VVS Laxman and Rohit Sharma scored half centuries but that went in vain.
VVS Laxman (52) and Rohit Sharma (57) gathered 96 runs for the third wicket and provided a ray of hope when Deccan Chargers lost two quick wickets but that was not enough as the Hyderabad could not put up a challenging target.

Delhi Daredevils Trounce Chennai Super Kings

Virender Sehwag (71) and Gautam Gambhir (50) helped Delhi Daredevils halt the winning streak of Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Sehwag made a swashbuckling 71 in 41 balls and had a 100-run partnership with Gautam Gambhir to frustrate the Chennai side. After the departure of Sehwag, Gambhir continued the good work and reached his half century in 36 balls.
Earlier, S Vidyut celebrated his debut in the Indian Premier League with a quick-fire 54 (37 balls) to take Chennai Super Kings to a competitive 169 for six. Vidyut proved a perfect replacement for Michael Hussey and shared a 57 runs parternership with his skipper MS Dhoni for the third wicket.
Glen McGrath did not allow the hosts to go all out and openers Parthiv Patel and Stephen Fleming were not able to play big shots.
After the departure of Fleming, Vidyut and Patel shared a 43-run second wicket stand and raised their team's 50 in the seventh over. After Patel's departure Dhoni tried to maintain the brisk pace of scoring. Vidyut reached his 50 off just 31 balls but added another four runs to his score.
Thereafter Dhoni walked back to the pavilion, caught at long off by Shoaib Malik off the bowling of Mohd. Asif and later Suresh Raina was ran out by Pradeep Sangwan. Albie Morkel scored a quick-fire 28 off 16 balls to 169.
